This morning was the first day of winter quarter. It was cold and rainy, and my sleep schedule for the past three weeks has been running at about 4am-1pm. So while I really really wanted to just crawl out of bed and throw a sweatshirt on when I woke up at seven this morning, I restrained myself and stared at my thirty for a few minutes while I woke up the rest of the way. (I could hear my mom in my head: "Good God, Jacqueline, just pick something!!")
This was before the layers I threw on over it--it was in the high 40's all day today, which is insufferably freezing for yours truly!
My camera is really bad, so other than this picture, they're all poorly cropped mirror pictures :( I'll use a cut to spare you! (Pirates, ye be warned!)
What I wore today (top to bottom!):
black beret: Burlington Coat Factory
black and white large bandanna scarf: Target
gray cardigan: Heritage 1981
black pants: Elle, Kohl's
black boots: Reaction, Marshall's
I also wore my black coat (Gallary, Macy’s). Because it was really freaking cold.
I'm really discouraged by the quality of my pictures, but I'm determined to continue on in the face of adversity! (And maybe I'll swallow my pride and ask my roommate to be my photographer)
The title of this post is pretty straight forward, seeing as how it was my first day of classes and my first thirty-for-thirty day, but in my head, the phrase is always said by the scribe guy in Mulan. Mulan strut into camp trying desperately to "be a man" (and this is where my internal monologue breaks into song) with some really bad advice. If Mulan had just stayed true to herself (well, as true as you can stay to yourself when you're pretending not to be a woman!), a lot of havoc could've been avoided. Earlier today, I was lamenting that all of the fashion blogs I read are way out of my league, pointing out that I put a sweatshirt in my thirty. But, if I had tried to keep dressy in my entire thirty, I'd end up picking up every single grain of rice; that is to say, create havoc by pretending to be something entirely out of what I am (super lazy at heart, haha).
Also, tonight's dinner is a chicken breast strip seasonings yet to be determined with a mixture of soy beans, corn, and red bell peppers on the side. In fact, the chicken is probably done defrosting. Wish me luck!
Oooh I really like the color of your blouse. And I initially read that as "running at 4 am" and I was like...whoa Jacqueline is insane...I thought only Fat Shannon did things like go running at 4 am.
ReplyDeleteAND MULAN. *does happy sparkle dance*
